Propeller Service

Propeller Service

We offer a range of services, including inspection, alignment, balancing, and comprehensive repair for damaged propellers. Utilizing cutting-edge techniques, we assess the condition and determine the optimal solution.

Step 1

Measurement & Inspection

Measurement of the propeller is the initial and crucial step in the repair process. Our specialized tools are used to take measurements at defined positions. The measured angles and height differences are then analyzed using measurement and evaluation software. From this, forecasts of power consumption before and after the repair can be calculated.

In addition to traditional measurements, a 3D scan offers a high-resolution measurement method. Using a white-light scanner, millions of points are captured and processed into a CAD geometry. Afterwards, this geometry can be post-processed and prepared for flow simulations. The advantage of the 3D scan lies in its ability to capture variations in geometry due to manufacturing tolerances, previous repairs, and wear, thus allowing for the most realistic simulation results to be obtained.

Step 2

Straightening & Shaping

In the second step, minor deformations are marked and brought back into a hydrodynamically optimal shape. In the case of severe damage where material has broken away, the fracture edge needs to be prepared for welding. The fracture edge is made weld-ready so that pieces or welding rods can be applied to restore the geometry.

Step 3

Adjusting / Changing Pitch

Based on the available measurement and performance data, the desired pitch can be calculated. In cases of damage, it may occur that the blade becomes deformed, causing the pitch to deviate from the specified tolerances. Through targeted adjustments, the pitch of each blade can be reconfigured, leading to improved smoothness of operation and reduced hydrodynamic imbalance. In the event of a new engine or gearbox, the pitch can also be altered within certain limits. This change in pitch is calculated and carried out based on the new propulsion data.

Step 4

Polishing

A smooth surface minimizes friction losses. In this way, the efficiency of the propeller is increased. As roughness and thus fuel consumption increase over time due to fouling, we recommend a visual inspection with accompanying surface treatment every time the vessel is docked.

So everything runs smoothly

Gearbox Service

Gearbox Service

As an official Reintjes Service partner, we handle all gearbox-related tasks, whether it’s replacing filters or conducting a complete overhaul. Thanks to short supply chains, a large inventory, and direct communication, we can always respond quickly to your needs.

Regular inspections help safeguard against unexpected downtime. We’re more than happy to come on board during a propeller replacement to assess the gearbox. Just as with the engine, regular maintenance is essential for the gearbox. This includes tasks such as filter changes and oil changes. We can also conduct sensor checks and inspect the gear tooth flanks on board. Our workshops stock a wide range of spare parts, from filter elements to oil pumps, and we can usually provide the desired part within 24 hours.
